Zuccarello og Kings tapte for Devils

The Los Angeles Kings took the lead with a goal from Scott Laughton four minutes before the end of the second period. Laughton received the puck from Adrian Kempe and finished with a clean shot behind home‑netminder Jake Allen. The New Jersey Devils answered quickly, with Anthony Mantha scoring a wrist shot that beat a covered Anton Forsberg. In the third period, Brett Pesce netted the home team’s first goal of the season, a quick strike halfway through the period. Pesce beat a defender and slipped the puck into the net via the post using the keeper’s leg pad. Arsenij Gritsch capped the game with an empty‑net goal with 1:45 remaining. Scott Zuccarello played 13:20 minutes but was not on the ice for any of the goals. The crowd also focused on the Devils’ new acquisition, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who was brought in from the Winnipeg Jets on Friday. Hellebuyck was present in the arena but was not in the game‑day lineup and is expected to replace Jake Allen in net for future games.
