On a memorable day, 26th June, 2026, Fitzgerald Hinds was honoured to present the petition for a young professional, Jabbarie, to be admitted to practice law in Trinidad and Tobago. The event was a gathering of legal minds, with Hinds introducing and interacting with prominent figures like Stuart Young, SC and James Philbert, Attorney at Law. Both these gentlemen also had the privilege to present petitions for other aspiring legal professionals.
The event was a significant occasion, marking the induction of 56 new entrants into the legal profession. Hinds, having recently returned to his practice, found the event thoroughly pleasing and professionally rewarding. Among the new inductees were many faces he had not seen during his years away from practice, sparking a sense of reunion and renewed camaraderie.
The highlight of the proceedings was an inspiring address by Justice Frank Seepersad. His address was a clear and clean statement of principle, highlighting the absolute necessity of integrity in the field of law. Seepersad also emphasized the profound responsibility that comes with the profession – to ensure every client, regardless of their status or circumstances, is treated with due process and fair representation.
Among the new attorneys was Christian Gouveia, presented by his mother, Denise Gouveia, a highly successful, long-standing Attorney at Law. Hinds expressed his admiration for the young attorney, whom he had known since his school days. The event, he felt, was not just fulfilling, but also a beacon of hope for the future of law in Trinidad and Tobago.
