Karnataka Police Clear Star Chicken Units: No Illegal Bangladeshi Migrants Found

Mandya District Police have dismissed allegations of illegal Bangladeshi migrants working at Star Chicken poultry units in Nagamangala taluk. Superintendent of Police VJ Shobharani said on Friday that an investigation launched after a complaint found no evidence of illegal foreign workers.

During inspections, police documented 146 workers from various Indian states, including 81 from West Bengal, 24 from Odisha, 19 from Bihar, nine each from Assam and Chhattisgarh, and two each from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. All workers presented Aadhaar cards and original documents confirming Indian citizenship.

SP Shobharani noted that the inquiry remains ongoing, with Aadhaar cards being sent to respective states for further verification. ‘We will send the Aadhaar cards to their respective states for further verification. Once we receive the report from the SPs there, we will get more clarity,’ she said.

In a related development, Mangaluru City Police recently detained 11 Bangladeshi nationals at two construction sites. Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy confirmed the detentions and said documents are being processed for deportation.
