Vil selge norske kråkeboller til Kina

Norway and China signed a new protocol on Thursday that expands market access for a range of Norwegian wild‑caught seafood species, including the kråkebolle, to the Chinese market. The agreement lists species such as brisling, lyr, blue mussels, sea shrimp, lobster, mackerel, sea sausage and the kråkebolle. Fisheries and Marine Minister Marianne Sivertsen Næss said the protocol gives the seafood industry expanded market access to sell Norwegian seafood in China, noting that China is already Norway’s second‑largest seafood export market. She added that the agreement is the result of several years of work between Norwegian and Chinese authorities. The kråkebolle, a small cephalopod, is prized for its edible gonads, which are often described as roe. China Daily reports that the kråkebolle is served raw, steamed with egg, over hot rice, or inside dumplings. A restaurant owner in Dalian described a top‑quality kråkebolle as golden, lightly sweet and soft enough to melt in the mouth. Freshness can be judged by observing whether the spines move actively, the owner said. Tatler Asia notes that the raw material is expensive because each kråkebolle yields only a few grams of edible content and the process of opening and cleaning the animal requires significant labor. A market for kråkebolle already exists. The Standard reported that at Sai Kung pier in Hong Kong, a bowl containing 30–40 kråkeboller sold for 230 Hong Kong dollars (about 270 Norwegian kroner) during Golden Week in May 2025, with the entire stock disappearing in 20 minutes. The popularity of the product has been amplified by social media, but hygiene concerns were raised, prompting sellers to advise customers to thoroughly heat‑treat the kråkeboller before consumption.
