**United Nations General Assembly Adopts “Correct the Map” Resolution**

The United Nations General Assembly has formally adopted the “Correct the Map” resolution, an initiative aimed at addressing long-standing cartographic distortions regarding the representation of Africa’s landmass on world maps.

The resolution, led by Togo and supported by all 54 member states of the African Union, passed with overwhelming support from the General Assembly. Zambia was among the nations that voted in favor of the measure.

Proponents of the initiative argue that traditional world maps have historically minimized the true geographic size of the African continent. By adopting this resolution, the UN seeks to promote more accurate cartographic standards.

Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations participated in the proceedings, affirming the country’s support for the collective African Union position on the matter.
