**New Zealand to Simplify Product Labelling to Boost Export Growth**

*Wellington, 7 September 2026* – Regulation Minister David Seymour announced that the Ministry for Regulation has completed its Product Labelling Review, a study aimed at making it easier for New Zealand exporters and foreign companies to sell products in the country.

The review’s recommendations have been accepted by the government and will lead to changes in digital labelling requirements and the labelling of over‑the‑counter (OTC) medicines. Decisions on the remaining recommendations are still pending.

Seymour said that New Zealand currently has no national standard for digital labelling, which makes it risky for businesses to adopt the technology. The government will develop a standard that will allow companies to use digital labels
