Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced a uniform civil code for all religions in the state, a significant policy shift that could influence national discourse. The announcement was made during a Guru Purnima event at Shri Jugal Kishore Temple in Panna on Friday.
Speaking to a gathering of devotees and saints, CM Yadav emphasized that a common law for all religions would promote equality and harmony. ‘Now there will be one law for all religions in the state. Through Sarvadharma Samabhav (equal respect for all religions), the state is progressing,’ he said.
The chief minister also highlighted cultural initiatives, including the establishment of Geeta Bhavans and libraries in all urban bodies, and plans to develop Vrindavan Grams. He added that a three-day Katha festival will be held annually in Panna, and a Sanskrit school will be opened there.
Panna MLA and former minister Brijendra Pratap Singh praised the gathering of saints, saying it was a matter of fortune. MP Vishnudutt Sharma and Rajnagar MLA Arvind Pateria were also present. CM Yadav earlier performed prayers at the temple for the state’s prosperity.
