French Ambassador to Libya, Thierry Vallat, visited the National Development Agency (NDA) headquarters in Sirte yesterday, where he was received by NDA Director General Mahmoud Al-Furjani. The ambassador was accompanied by a delegation from Business France and representatives of three French companies specializing in sports infrastructure, medical transport, and sustainable agriculture.
The visit included a field tour of several key development projects, such as Sirte Gulf International Airport, the Sirte Free Zone Port, Sirte International Stadium, and the Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous Bridge—the latter being executed by a French company. NDA engineers and contractors provided technical briefings on work progress.
Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, aviation, and port operations, aligned with the Libya 2030 Vision. The French Embassy reported that Ambassador Vallat expressed deep appreciation for the NDA’s efforts, commending the professionalism and tangible results achieved in Sirte’s reconstruction.
The visit also included side meetings with French company representatives to explore future partnerships. The embassy stressed that the visit underscores the strength of French-Libyan relations, rooted in trust and a shared desire for sustainable development.
