A public vigil was held on Sunday, September 13, for the Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis at the Holy Church of Agia Triada in Nikaia. The artist, who passed away at the age of 54, was remembered by a large crowd of fans, friends, and family members who gathered in the neighborhood where he grew up.

Attendees arrived throughout the evening, many carrying flowers and handwritten notes, to pay their respects. The atmosphere was marked by emotional tributes, with mourners singing the artist’s songs and chanting “athanatos” (immortal) as his casket arrived at the church. The vigil, which the family organized to allow the public to bid farewell, lasted from 7:30 p.m. on Sunday until the early hours of Monday.

The funeral is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 14, at 1:00 p.m. at the Third Cemetery of Athens. The service will be held in a private, family-only setting. In a formal statement, the singer’s family requested that, in lieu of wreaths, those wishing to honor his memory make donations to the organization Humanity Greece.
