Indian wushu athlete Aparna Dahiya was eliminated from the Asian Games 2026 after a 0-2 defeat in the women’s 52kg Sanda Round of 16. Competing in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Sunday, Dahiya lost both rounds to Iran’s Sogand Sinkaeichetan by a 5-0 scoreline.
Dahiya entered the continental competition following a gold medal performance at the 11th Sanda World Cup in Macau in May, where she defeated reigning world champion Thi Phuong Nga Ngo of Vietnam. That victory marked India’s first gold medal at the 11th edition of the Sanda World Cup.
The Asian Games featured several other events for the Indian contingent on Sunday. In the men’s 75kg Sanda category, Vikrant Baliyan was scheduled to compete against Iran’s Soheil Mousavi. Other notable results included silver medals for Elavenil Valarivan in the women’s 10m air rifle individual and team events, as well as victories for the Indian women’s hockey and cricket teams.
