E1 CEO Jamie Copas Reveals Bold Growth Plans Ahead of Monaco Race

Jamie Copas, the new CEO of E1, the world’s first all-electric powerboat racing championship, has outlined ambitious growth plans as the series prepares for its Monaco race. In an interview with Monaco Life, Copas revealed that E1 aims to expand from its current 10 teams and 8 races to 12 teams and 15 races.

Copas emphasized Monaco’s critical role, calling the race ‘central’ to E1’s ambitions. ‘Having this race on the calendar positions E1 within the heart of motorsport,’ he said, citing the prestige and support from the Principality.

The championship, founded by Alejandro Agag, is built on sustainability, gender equality, and innovation. Copas noted that partners are attracted to these values, which open doors for commercial growth.

Looking to the future, Copas shared that E1 is developing a second fleet, leveraging technological advancements. He highlighted the alignment with Monaco’s Energy Boat Challenge, which showcases sustainable maritime tech.

With a background in advertising and motorsport, Copas sees E1 as a platform to accelerate clean marine technology. ‘On the water, it’s so much further behind,’ he said, but E1’s storytelling can speed up adoption.
