**Vinohrady’s Americká Street Block Party Scheduled for September 12**
Prague, Czech Republic – The streets of Americká and Záhřebská in the Vinohrady district will be closed to traffic on Saturday, September 12, to host the 15th edition of the “Zažít Americkou jinak” street festival. The event, organized by the city’s cultural department, will run from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
This year’s programme places a particular emphasis on Mexican and broader Latin American culture, coinciding with the celebration of Mexican Independence Day. The central venue, the “La Calle Mexicana” stage, will be hosted by DJs Roxana Velasco and José. Scheduled performances include:
– Studio Anyo
– Traditional Mexican music ensembles
– A piñata activity
– A dance workshop
– Appearances by Mexican musicians Razcarmelo and Andrea Viruega
A focal point of the festival will be **El Grito**, the traditional ceremony that marks Mexico’s Independence Day. The event has become an annual gathering for the Mexican community in the Czech Republic as well as for festival attendees.
Among the musical acts, the organizers highlight **Mariachi Azteca de Praga**, described as the first authentic mariachi band based in the Czech Republic. The evening program will also feature international performers, including **Faustina Calavera**, a ten‑member group from Wrocław that blends Latin American cumbia, Balkan brass, and ska.
The festival aims to provide a full‑day schedule of live music, dance, workshops, design exhibitions, food stalls, and activities for children. All activities are open to the public at no charge.
