Waterschap Hollandse Delta will host a special presentation and guided tour of the Voorstraat in Dordrecht as part of the Festival Voor de Vloed.
The event takes place on Thursday, 24 September from 18:45 to 20:30 at the Kloostertuin in Dordrecht. Admission is free, but participants must register in advance at wshd.nl/voorstraat.
The Voorstraat is not only a historic shopping street but also a crucial water barrier that protects the city’s inner district from high water. During the tour, staff will explain how this dike functions and how it safeguards the downtown area.
Attendees will learn about the measures taken to prepare for high water and other crisis situations, and will be informed about actions residents can take to help protect their homes and neighbourhoods.
The Festival Voor de Vloed runs from 19 to 30 September and aims to raise awareness of water overflow and flooding in the Dordtse inner city ahead of the storm season. The festival includes street theatre, excursions and a range of free activities.
