Un buque cisterna sufre una explosión mientras salía del estrecho de Ormuz, según Ukmto

A tanker experienced an explosion on Thursday while leaving the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman, the United Kingdom Maritime Operations (UKMTO) reported on Friday. The incident, described by UKMTO as an “attack,” occurred 16 nautical miles (30 km) east of Jasab, Oman. According to the UKMTO, the tanker’s captain reported an explosion on the port side of the vessel’s flotation line. The ship continued its voyage on its own power, and the crew was reported to be safe and located. UKMTO did not disclose the vessel’s flag or the nature of the attack. The incident comes amid a series of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran announced on Friday that two other tankers had struck mines while navigating routes it described as “unauthorized” in the strait. Tehran has said that the mines were part of a policy to restrict shipping through the strategic waterway. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard reiterated that the strait remains blocked until the United States accepts its seven conditions for ending the conflict. In the same week, U.S. President Donald Trump called Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al‑Thani to discuss efforts to prevent a regional escalation. The call occurred as the United States prepares for mid‑term elections.
