Disguised as a haredi Jew: Driver caught smuggling 6 infiltrators

Jerusalem Envelope Border Police officers arrested seven individuals who were attempting to enter Israel illegally at the a‑Za’ayyem Crossing on Thursday. The operation began when officers observed a suspicious vehicle and ordered the driver to stop for inspection. Inside the vehicle, the officers found six passengers who did not possess permits to enter or remain in Israel. Investigators also identified the driver as an illegal infiltrator. According to police reports, the driver had grown sidelocks (payot), wore a kippah, and was dressed in Haredi clothing, apparently in an effort to conceal his identity and avoid detection by security forces. The vehicle had been removed from the road and had been fitted with altered license plates. All seven suspects, residents of the Hebron and Tulkarm areas, were taken into custody and transferred to the Jerusalem Envelope Border Police investigations and intelligence unit for further questioning. The vehicle was towed and handed over for seizure proceedings.
