TTPS Target Another Victory as National Indoor Hockey Tournament Leaders Face Pressure

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) will look to strengthen their position in the Trinity Men division when they meet bottom-placed Fatima Hockey Club in the National Indoor Tournament at the Woodbrook Youth Facility. The Trinidad Express reports that the scheduled 9 p.m. fixture is one of three matches on the programme, with the standings setting up an important opportunity for the Police side.

TTPS enter the encounter fourth with six points from three matches. They have recorded two victories and one defeat, scoring 17 goals and conceding eight for a goal difference of plus nine. A win would lift them to nine points, level with current leaders Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) and second-placed Carib Hockey Club, although both sides have a superior goal difference.

The Police team began its campaign with an 8-2 victory over SHAPE before beating ProSport 6-2. Its only loss so far was a narrow 4-3 defeat against Notre Dame, which sits third with seven points from five matches.

Fatima face a difficult challenge after losing their first three matches. They are seventh and last in the division without a point, having scored seven goals and conceded 14. TTPS will aim to take advantage of that record and remain within reach of the leading teams.

The evening programme begins at 7 p.m. with QPCC facing ProSport. Queen’s Park have won all three of their matches, scoring 18 goals and conceding only one. Their results include a 4-0 win over Fatima, a 10-0 victory against SHAPE and a 4-1 success against Notre Dame. ProSport have one point from three matches after drawing 2-2 with Notre Dame and losing 6-2 to both TTPS and Carib.

The women’s competition also features a meeting between Harvard Checkers and Ventures Hockey Club at 8 p.m. Both teams are seeking their first points after losing their opening four matches. Ventures sit fifth with a goal difference of minus 19, while Harvard are sixth at minus 43. Ventures have scored four goals in four outings, compared with two for Harvard.

At the top of the Open Women standings, Paragon Hockey Club lead with 12 points from four consecutive wins. Defending champions Magnolia Hockey Club are second with nine points from three victories. TTPS are third with six points from three matches, while Paragon Hockey Club II also have six points but have played four games.

The three scheduled fixtures offer different objectives: Queen’s Park aim to maintain their unbeaten run, Harvard and Ventures seek to break their losing streaks, and TTPS have an opportunity to move level on points with the men’s leaders. The standings and results reported by the Express provide the context for the night’s programme, but the listed positions will change only when the matches are played and their results confirmed.
