**National Museum of Iceland Highlights Historic Bridal Costume**
The National Museum of Iceland is currently hosting an exhibition titled “A Story in the Luggage – The Bridal Costume,” which showcases one of the most intricate examples of the traditional Icelandic *faldbúningur* costume.
The exhibition, which opened in May, is a focal point of the museum’s ongoing efforts to celebrate Icelandic national dress. The featured costume is notable for its historical significance, having survived a shipwreck.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the museum is holding its annual National Costume Festival this weekend. As part of the event, the museum has displayed recreated versions of 18th-century *faldbúningur* costumes, including skirts reconstructed by artisan Guðrún Skúladóttir.
The exhibition remains open to the public as part of the museum’s seasonal programming dedicated to the preservation and study of Icelandic cultural attire.
