Stolen Nissan Navara recovered at Tshwane informal settlement

Members of the Tshwane Flying Squad recovered a stolen black Nissan Navara that had been abandoned at the Leeuwfontein informal settlement in the Kameeldrift policing area. The vehicle was retrieved at about 10:30 am on Saturday during routine crime‑prevention operations and visible patrols conducted by police in the area. Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Frans Span said officers verified the vehicle’s registration number and confirmed that it had been reported stolen in Pretoria. The Navara was handed over for further investigation, with members of the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) attending the scene to conduct additional inquiries. The recovered vehicle was subsequently taken to the Pretoria West Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU), where it was booked under SAPS 13, the police register used to record property taken into police custody. Span added that investigations into the incident are ongoing, including how the vehicle ended up abandoned at the settlement. No arrests were reported in connection with the recovery.
