The 45th annual Stična mladih, the largest Catholic youth festival in Slovenia, took place at the Stična monastery, drawing 5,600 participants. The event, supported by 200 volunteers, featured a program of music, workshops, and religious services centered on the theme of sharing the fire of divine love.
The monastery’s abbot, Father Maksimilijan File, opened the event by noting that the monastery is celebrating its 890th anniversary. He encouraged attendees to open their hearts to faith, stating that the fire of love is ignited by God rather than through habit alone.
Bishop Janez Kozinc addressed the attendees during mass, emphasizing the importance of divine love and the sacrament of reconciliation. He described the sacrament as a space to experience God’s mercy without the need for calculation or merit. The bishop noted that individuals must first receive love from others and through their experiences in life before they can effectively share it with the world.
Apostolic Nuncio Luigi Bianco also addressed the youth, delivering an apostolic blessing and highlighting the Church’s trust in the younger generation. He encouraged participants to avoid superficial decisions and to engage actively within the Christian community. Referencing a recent papal document on artificial intelligence, the Nuncio urged the youth to prioritize human dignity and justice in an era of rapid technological advancement.
The festival program included 28 thematic workshops covering topics such as personal growth, relationships, and contemporary social issues. The event concluded with an evening of worship music led by the bands Rapha Worship and Zoe.
