Main Points
Sophia Shacalugia has been named as one of the shooters in the LexisNexis Dragons U19 squad for the 2027 Netball Super League season. The squad, announced by head coach Mel Hellerman, will comprise six shooters, six mid‑court players and five defenders. The LexisNexis Dragons, based in Cardiff, are the only Welsh club competing in the Netball Super League. The club, formerly known as Celtic Dragons and LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons, reached the league Grand Final in 2013. The U19 team is a key development pathway into the senior squad, and the Dragons also run a NXT GEN squad that bridges the gap between the senior side and the U19 and U17 teams. Shacalugia’s selection is seen as a significant boost for Gibraltar netball. The young player has already represented Gibraltar at U17 and U21 levels and was among those chosen for the Champions Test Series against Northern Ireland in November.
