Prototal Sweden has reported a significant increase in its workforce and a rise in operating profit for the most recent fiscal year, according to the company’s latest annual report. The company, which specializes in plastic manufacturing, now employs 118 people, representing a 90 percent increase compared to the previous year.
The company recorded a turnover of just over 400 million Swedish kronor for 2025. While the operating profit reached approximately 25.5 million kronor, the company reported a pre-tax loss of roughly 10.5 million kronor. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the company has reported a negative pre-tax result.
The operating margin for the year was 6.4 percent, an improvement over the 4.1 percent margin recorded in 2024. For comparison, Statistics Sweden (SCB) reports that the average operating margin within the rubber and plastic manufacturing sector is 7.5 percent. The report notes that these figures include a subsidiary and that individual company results are reported separately.
Prototal Sweden, which was founded in 1918 and is based in Jönköping, is currently the second-largest company in its sector within the municipality and the fourth-largest in Sweden. There are 46 companies operating in the same sector in Jönköping.
The company’s owner, Prototal Industries AB, did not take a dividend during the past year. Jan Olov Löfving, 60, serves as both the CEO and chairman of the board.
