The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) has attributed the low pass rate of 3% in the recent Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) June exams to underfunding and poor pay for teachers. According to ARTUZ, the decline in Zimbabwe’s education outcomes is a result of structural challenges affecting the country’s education system. The union specifically cited underfunding and poor teacher remuneration as key factors contributing to the poor performance.
