The absorption of subsidized fertilizer in Bantul Regency has reached approximately 70 percent as of September 2026. The Department of Food Security and Agriculture (DKPP) of Bantul anticipates that the redemption rate will increase between October and December, coinciding with the start of the year-end planting season for many local farmers.
Joko Waluyo, Head of DKPP Bantul, stated that the regency’s fertilizer allocation for the year is 9,320 tons of Urea and 8,902 tons of NPK. He noted that the current absorption level does not reflect a lack of demand, but rather the agricultural cycle, as many farmers in rain-fed areas wait for the rainy season to begin planting.
The distribution of subsidized fertilizer is managed across 17 districts through 46 designated kiosks. Farmers must redeem their allocations according to the electronic Definitive Plan for Group Needs (e-RDKK) system. The government has set the Highest Retail Price (HET) at Rp90,000 per sack for Urea and Rp92,000 per sack for NPK.
Nono Basuki, head of the Sido Dadi 2 Farmer Group in Dlingo, explained that many farmers in his area delay fertilizer purchases until the end of the year because they do not plant during the dry season. He noted that while the subsidy is beneficial, some farmers have not redeemed their allocations due to a lack of awareness regarding their quotas or issues related to the ownership of Farmer Cards.
According to DKPP Bantul, if the current allocation proves insufficient to meet the needs of the agricultural sector, the regency government retains the authority to request additional quotas from the Yogyakarta Special Region provincial government or the central government.
