A 50-year-old Princes Town woman has been granted bail in the sum of TT$200,000 after facing charges of fraud, extortion, kidnapping, and simple robbery. Michelle Lisa Guyadeen-Lutchman appeared before Master Sarah Da Silva at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 20, 2026, where the matter was adjourned to September 4, 2026.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s Anti-Extortion Unit into allegations spanning July 2021 to May 2026. According to investigators, Guyadeen-Lutchman falsely represented herself as an employee of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services. She allegedly promised a victim assistance to rebuild her home in exchange for monthly payments of TT$2,500.
When the payments ceased, the victim and her family reportedly received repeated threats. This prompted a report to the Anti-Extortion Unit, which launched a probe. Acting on intelligence, officers executed an operation between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, leading to Guyadeen-Lutchman’s arrest at her residence in Princes Town.
The investigation was spearheaded by Assistant Commissioner of Police Richard Smith, Criminal Division and Special Operations, coordinated by Sgt. Bacchus, supervised by Cpl. Rampersad, and supported by officers of the Southern Division Criminal Investigations Department. The case continues to unfold as the court prepares for its next hearing in September.
