P.E.I. RCMP and Coroner’s Office investigating after man died in public in Georgetown

A 34-year-old man from Kings County, Prince Edward Island, died suddenly in public in Georgetown on August 6. The provincial Coroner’s Office and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are investigating the cause of death.

According to the RCMP, officers from the Kings District responded to a 911 call at approximately 8 p.m. on August 6, regarding a man acting erratically in Georgetown. The man later lost consciousness.

Emergency responders, including Island EMS and Georgetown firefighters, arrived at the scene and attempted to resuscitate the man through CPR. However, these efforts were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RCMP’s major crime unit, forensic identification section, and police dog services were also involved in the investigation, which is ongoing. The police have stated that there is no further public safety concern.
