Orlando Mendes Veigas, a former Minister of Commerce and a senior official of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), has died in France at the age of 66. His death was reported on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
According to Rádio Capital FM, which cited sources within the PRS, the cause of death has not been disclosed.
Throughout his political career, Mendes Veigas held several government positions. He also served as the President of the Bissau City Council, a Director-General, and a member of the National Assembly.
Born on July 26, 1960, in Catió, located in the Tombali region of southern Guinea-Bissau, Mendes Veigas pursued higher education in the former Soviet Union. He graduated with a degree in Agro-Economic Sciences from the State Agrarian University of Tashkent in 1992.
