**CHISINAU** — A Shahed-type drone flew through the airspace of the Republic of Moldova on Sunday, August 16, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The National Army’s airspace surveillance systems detected the flying object, identified as a Shahed 138 (Geran-2) drone, at 04:31.
According to the ministry, the drone originated from the Ukrainian locality of Kotlovina in the Reni region and crossed Moldovan airspace over the village of Etulia in the autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia.
