Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe has stated that the Nigerian electricity sector is shifting its focus from measuring power output in kilowatts and megawatts to increasing the number of communities with access to electricity.
Tegbe made this statement during the inauguration of the Governing Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in Abuja. The event, which took place on a Friday, was attended by a seven-member board, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The Minister’s comments suggest a new approach to addressing the country’s electricity needs, with an emphasis on expanding access to power in more communities.
