**Technical glitch that halted hundreds of UK flights has been resolved**

A technical fault that caused the cancellation of hundreds of flights across the United Kingdom has been fixed, and the air traffic control system is now recovering, the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) said on the social‑media platform X.

NATS wrote that it had implemented a correction and that the flight system is beginning to recover. The company added that it is working closely with airlines and airports to restore normal operations.

According to flight‑tracking service FlightRadar24, roughly 425 flights were cancelled in the UK. The cancellations were concentrated at Heathrow Airport in London, but also affected Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh. Flights to Portugal were among those disrupted.

Heathrow Airport clarified that the problem mainly impacted departures, not arrivals. “Flights continue to depart and airspace is open, but the recovery will take some time,” the airport said.

The technical issue has now been resolved, and NATS confirmed that the system is recovering.
