Sunrise Airways has officially launched direct flights between Barbados and Antigua, with the inaugural aircraft touching down in Barbados on July 23. The new route is expected to strengthen tourism and business connections between the two Caribbean islands.
Chief Executive Officer Gary Stone was on hand to welcome passengers and greeted BTMI chairman Peter Harris after the flight. The event marked a milestone for the carrier as it expands its regional network.
Industry observers say the service will provide more travel options for residents and visitors, potentially boosting visitor arrivals and trade. The airline plans to operate regular scheduled flights on the route.
Local tourism officials have welcomed the development, noting that improved airlift is critical for the post-pandemic recovery of the Caribbean travel sector.
