A devastating ferry disaster off the coast of Guyana has sparked allegations of government negligence and a cover-up. The Citizens for Government Integrity and Development (CGID) has accused the government of operating the 87-year-old MV Barima ferry, which capsized on July 11, 2026, en route from Georgetown to Port Kaituma in Region One.
