**Met Éireann forecasts changeable weather with periods of heavy rain this week**
Met Éireann has issued an updated weather forecast for Ireland, warning of “changeable” conditions characterized by alternating periods of dry, bright weather and heavy rainfall throughout the week.
**Tuesday**
Tuesday is expected to begin with sunny spells, followed by heavy showery bursts that will develop into longer periods of rain by the afternoon. While some southern areas are expected to remain dry, temperatures are forecast to reach 17C. Conditions are expected to become brisk and showery overnight, with temperatures dropping to a low of 6C. Showers will be most frequent in western regions.
**Wednesday**
Wednesday is forecast to be largely dry with light west to southwest breezes. Sunny spells are expected across the eastern half of the country, while western areas will remain cloudier with the potential for light showers or drizzle. Cloud cover is expected to increase nationwide later in the day. Temperatures will range between 15C and 19C, with the warmest conditions in the east. Wednesday night will remain dry initially, before rain moves into the west and southwest. Overnight temperatures will range from 10C to 14C.
**Thursday**
Thursday will see cloudy outbreaks of rain become widespread by the early afternoon, with Met Éireann noting the potential for heavy bursts over Ulster. Eastern regions are expected to remain generally dry for the first half of the day. By the afternoon, a clearance to sunny spells and scattered showers will move into the west and southwest, eventually extending across the rest of the country. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach between 15C and 19C, accompanied by moderate to fresh southerly winds.
**Friday**
Conditions are expected to improve on Friday, which is forecast to be a drier and brighter day. The weather will feature a mix of sunny spells and isolated showers, with temperatures between 15C and 18C and light northwesterly breezes.
