**Airlines Cancel Flights to Oslo Ahead of Royal Funeral**
Norway is preparing for the funeral of the late King Harald V, and Oslo Airport is experiencing a surge in traffic from foreign delegations. In response, the state airport operator Avinor has requested a general reduction in air traffic on Wednesday, 9 September, to accommodate official arrival flights for the ceremony.
SAS and Norwegian airlines have cancelled several flights to and from Oslo Airport. Norwegian has already cancelled 16 flights, mainly domestic routes linking Oslo with Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim. Avinor communications adviser Camilla Haugen Walla told the newspaper VG that a total of about 40 flights have been cancelled for the day, spread across morning and afternoon hours. Affected passengers have been contacted directly by their airlines.
Avinor is working closely with the airlines to keep regular commercial flights running as smoothly as possible alongside the ceremonial traffic.
