SAN JUAN – LUMA Energy warned Friday that there is a high probability of rolling blackouts overnight due to a projected 346-megawatt deficit, while Energy Czar Josué Colón Ortiz reported that Genera Puerto Rico aims to synchronize the Costa Sur 6 unit before 5 PM.
The warning comes as the island continues to grapple with an unstable power grid. The deficit underscores persistent generation shortfalls that have forced emergency measures.
Colón Ortiz expressed cautious optimism that Costa Sur 6 would come online in time to alleviate some pressure. However, LUMA urged customers to prepare for possible interruptions.
The situation remains fluid, and authorities are monitoring generation levels closely.
