**OTTAWA** — Canada’s national unemployment rate stood at 6.4 per cent in July.
Statistics Canada’s regional breakdown of jobless rates for July, with the previous month’s figures in brackets, is as follows:
* **Newfoundland and Labrador:** 9.3 per cent (8.2)
* **Prince Edward Island:** 6.8 per cent (7.6)
* **Nova Scotia:** 6.2 per cent (6.5)
* **New Brunswick:** 7.0 per cent (7.3)
* **Quebec:** 5.6 per cent (5.4)
* **Ontario:** 6.8 per cent (7.0)
* **Manitoba:** 5.0 per cent (5.4)
* **Saskatchewan:** 6.0 per cent (6.1)
* **Alberta:** 7.0 per cent (7.0)
* **British Columbia:** 6.2 per cent (6.5)
