Heavy Rain Prompts Flash Flood Warning Across 11 Nepali Districts

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has issued a warning for flash floods in small rivers across several districts in Nepal, urging residents in vulnerable areas to stay vigilant. In a notice released on July 21, the DHM highlighted an increased risk of sudden flooding due to continuous rainfall. The affected districts include Jhapa, Udayapur, Gorkha, Lamjung, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Kalikot, Doti, Dadeldhura, and Baitadi, along with surrounding regions.

Meteorologist Binod Parajuli explained that persistent rain has raised water levels in small rivers, heightening the danger of flash floods. Communities living near riverbanks are advised to prepare for possible evacuation and to avoid crossing swollen waterways.

This alert comes as Nepal grapples with the monsoon season, which often brings severe weather and flooding. The DHM continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
