The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) has conducted a significant operation in Georgetown, Guyana, targeting transnational drug syndicates. On July 1, 2026, CANU executed a tactical raid on a suspected safehouse located on Princess Street. The operation led to the seizure of approximately $80 million worth of high-grade foreign cannabis and five illegal firearms.
During the raid, several suspects were apprehended at the scene and are currently being held in high-security detention at CANU headquarters.
