Greqia, Qiproja dhe Izraeli hedhin poshtë në Athinë memorandumin Turqi-Libi dhe krijojnë grup të përbashkët pune për industrinë e mbrojtjes

Greece, Cyprus and Israel signed a memorandum of cooperation in Athens on 22 December 2025, establishing a joint working group to advance their defense industries. The agreement was reached by senior officials from the Ministries of Defence of the three countries, who met in Athens to reaffirm their trilateral partnership and to discuss shared security challenges in the eastern Mediterranean. The memorandum calls for collaboration on regional security assessments, joint research and development, maritime security—including protection of sea lanes and critical infrastructure—and civil defence preparedness. The parties also agreed to foster partnerships among their defense industries, promote joint production, and enhance interoperability among their armed forces. A key point of the joint statement was the rejection of the Turkey‑Libya maritime memorandum, which the Libyan House of Representatives ratified on 20 October. The three ministers stated that the Turkey‑Libya agreement violates the sovereign rights of third‑party states, contravenes international norms on maritime jurisdiction, and cannot have any legal effect on other countries. Athens has consistently opposed the 2019 agreement, arguing that Turkey and Libya lack the necessary territorial waters to delimit a maritime zone between them. The ministers reiterated their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus and condemned unilateral claims, coercive measures, and destabilising military actions in the region. The Athens meeting was part of a broader series of high‑level engagements, following a joint declaration by the leaders of the three countries in Jerusalem on 22 December 2025.
