Fransa’da 70 bin güvenlik gücü görevde, Paris’te 60 bine yakın kişi bekleniyor

France’s government has announced that bans on protests in city centres will remain in force. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said that 70,000 gendarmerie and police officers have been deployed for today’s demonstrations. According to official estimates, around 60,000 people are expected to take part in the Paris protests. Nunez told reporters that the risk to public order remains high and that the authorities will confront any attempts by radical groups to incite violence or damage public property. He also confirmed that the ban on city‑centre demonstrations, imposed by prefectures, will continue. In Paris, the route for the protests has been set between Place de la République and Place de la Nation, the same path used on 5 November. Yellow‑Vests representatives, however, announced that they would also gather at Place de Concorde, outside the designated route. Protests are expected in many French cities today. After the 17 October Yellow‑Vests demonstrations, the government tightened security measures, including partial curfews in some areas, and decided to hold protests away from city centres. Unions and protest organisers have criticised the decision as an attempt to “make protests invisible” and have taken the bans to court. Education protests by high‑school students have been ongoing for about two months. Yellow‑Vests protests took place on 17, 24, 31 October and 5 November. Official sources estimated that about 600,000 people participated in the 5 November protests, while unions claimed 1.6 million participants. Those demonstrations were the largest since 17 October. During the 17 October protests, more than 3,000 businesses were reported damaged or looted. Police violence during the demonstrations sparked controversy, leading to the detention of thousands of participants. In response to potential unrest, the government has implemented partial curfews and protest bans in certain areas.
