Forde, Jangoo and Mangru earn First Contracts as CWI Confirms 2026–27 Retainers

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced its list of contracted players for the 2026–27 season, covering the period from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. The roster includes 15 men and 15 women on senior retainer contracts, alongside three men on development contracts. Matthew Forde, Amir Jangoo, and Mandy Mangru have secured their first international retainer contracts, while John Campbell returns to the list for the first time since 2019. The leadership core remains unchanged, with Shai Hope serving as captain for ODI and T20I formats, Roston Chase as Test captain, and Hayley Matthews leading the women’s side. CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe stated that the contracts are aligned with upcoming international objectives. “For the men, the first job is the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in February,” Bascombe said. “For the women, it is the Pakistan ODIs in December, which give us the chance to own automatic qualification for the next ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.” Campbell’s return follows a productive 2025–26 season, highlighted by a maiden Test century against India in Delhi and a century in an ODI against India in Guwahati. Forde, a seamer, earned his contract after leading West Indies bowlers in powerplay wickets across white-ball formats over the past year. Wicketkeeper-batter Jangoo was recognized following a record-breaking 401-run partnership with Roston Chase against Sri Lanka in June. Among the men, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Justin Greaves, and Jomel Warrican are entering the final year of two-year contracts. The development contracts have been awarded to Jewel Andrew, Ackeem Auguste, and Vitel Lawes. Bascombe noted that these contracts are intended to integrate emerging talent into the international set-up, ensuring they remain in contention for selection. On the women’s side, Mandy Mangru received her first retainer following her participation in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-finals. Deandra Dottin and Chinelle Henry are entering the final year of their two-year contracts. The women’s team is scheduled to face Pakistan in December under interim Head Coach Andre Coley. CWI clarified that players not included in the international retainer list remain eligible for selection across all West Indies teams. Further details regarding the 2026–27 Men’s Academy cohort and regional women’s contracts are expected to be released separately.
