Bangladesh has formally requested Indonesia’s support for its bid to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), a trade bloc that includes 15 Asia‑Pacific economies.
The request was made on 9 September 2026 and comes as Bangladesh seeks to expand its trade ties and benefit from the bloc’s preferential tariff regime.
Indonesia, a founding member of RCEP, has not yet indicated whether it will back Bangladesh’s application. The move follows Bangladesh’s earlier efforts to secure membership in other regional trade agreements.
