विवादमै अल्झियो सुदूरपश्चिम प्रदेश सभा

The West Bengal Provincial Assembly has been described as “stuck in a state of paralysis” by Avinash Chaudhary of Dhungadhi, who spoke on 20 Kartik 2025. Chaudhary said that the assembly’s focus has shifted from law‑making to maintaining power, and that the current fiscal year’s budget (2083/84 Bikram Sambat) has not been passed, preventing regular meetings. According to Chaudhary, the assembly has been convened only once a month, and the bills that were registered in the Secretariat 18 months ago remain under consideration in a parliamentary committee. “The government has not revised existing laws or introduced new ones as required,” said former minister and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) member Ramesh Singh Dhami. Dhami added that the assembly has made little progress as its term draws to a close. The province has experienced several government changes because of budget disputes. The most recent budget, introduced on 1 Asar 2025, was rejected, and the new government’s budget, also presented in Asar, remains controversial. The opposition Nepali Congress provincial parliamentary group has demanded the resignation of the chief minister and ministers and has called for an early assembly session. In a meeting chaired by former chief minister Kamal Bahadur Shah on Monday (Mangalbar), the Congress parliamentary group urged the assembly to convene promptly. Divansinh Vist, chair of the Provincial Law and Affairs Committee, said that the budget crisis has left the current provincial government in chaos and unable to function effectively. A seven‑member committee has been formed to investigate the budget’s shortcomings.
