The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for seven districts in Kerala as rainfall is expected to intensify across the state. The districts currently under alert include Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad, and Kannur.
Weather officials have warned of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts for Thursday.
According to the meteorological department, a cyclonic circulation currently located over the North Andaman Sea and its surrounding areas is moving in a west-northwest direction. This system is projected to intensify into a depression over the central-eastern Bay of Bengal by tomorrow and further strengthen into a deep depression over the central-western Bay of Bengal by Tuesday. These atmospheric conditions are expected to contribute to increased rainfall activity across Kerala.
