Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA announced that he is working on a new album of Mexican corridos, a genre he has grown to love during his recent stay in Mexico. In an interview with Alofoke, the artist said that Mexico has become his “second home” and that he spent the last 14 months in the country, where he recorded much of his upcoming project Real Hasta la Muerte 2. AA explained that the storytelling style of regional Mexican music, especially the way singers convey real-life experiences, has inspired him. He highlighted the production process of corridos, noting that each instrument—guitar, bass, accordion, trombone—must be recorded individually. The rapper emphasized that the forthcoming corridos album will be distinct from the urban project he is also preparing, focusing exclusively on the traditional genre. He cited several musical influences, including Peso Pluma, Tito Double P, Luis R. Conriquez and Fuerza Regida.
