**American Airlines Announces Direct Nice–New York Service for 2027**
American Airlines said it will begin a daily nonstop flight between Nice Côte d’Azur Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on 6 May 2027. The service will be operated with the airline’s Airbus A321XLR, a long‑range single‑aisle aircraft configured with 155 seats, including 20 Flagship Suite seats, 12 Premium Economy seats and 123 Main Cabin seats.
The new route will be the second direct connection the carrier offers between the French Riviera and the United States, joining an existing Nice–Philadelphia service that launched in 2024. With the addition, the total number of long‑haul flights from Nice to North America will rise to ten, four of which will serve New York.
Franck Goldnadel, chairman of the board of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, said the route reflects “the growing appeal of the North American market for the French Riviera” and underscores the airport’s role as “France’s leading airport outside Paris and a primary gateway to North America.” He added that the airport’s mission remains to “connect our region directly and sustainably to major global capitals.”
José A. Freig, vice president of International and Business Partner Operations at American Airlines, noted that the airline has received “overwhelmingly positive” feedback from customers since the inaugural Nice service began in 2024. He said the new flight “provides even more opportunity for those much‑desired summer escapes” and highlighted the A321XLR’s introduction in the summer of 2026 as an “elevated experience” for transatlantic travelers.
The A321XLR will also be deployed on other new transatlantic routes slated for 2027, including New York to Amsterdam and Philadelphia to Porto and Vienna. Ticket sales for the new routes are scheduled to start on 31 August 2027.
