**Afghan entrepreneur launches online bus‑ticket platform**
*Kabul, Sept. 5 – Xinhua* – Sadaf Afghan, a young entrepreneur from Kabul, has begun offering bus‑ticket booking services through her online platform, qasid.af. The service allows customers to reserve seats, make payments electronically and receive tickets at their homes, eliminating the need to visit bus terminals and pay in cash.
Afghan said she developed the website about a year ago and launched the booking service five months later with a three‑person team. The business has since grown to eight employees, including four women who handle bookings and ticket deliveries. “We book tickets for our customers online, make the payment and then deliver the tickets to their doorsteps,” she told Xinhua.
The company aims to expand to other provinces, creating additional job opportunities for men and women. “Our main goal is to further develop our business and open more offices in the provinces so that we can create job opportunities for both men and women,” Afghan said.
Transport in Afghanistan remains largely dependent on road travel, with buses serving as a primary means of intercity transport. A 450‑kilometre journey between cities can take at least ten hours, depending on road and traffic conditions. Afghan believes digital services can make the travel experience more convenient. “We need government support to improve the transport system, provide necessary services and support companies that provide services to travelers,” she added.
The company also plans to extend its services to air travel, allowing customers to book airline tickets online and have them delivered to their homes.
Mohammadi, 20, is one of qasid.af’s female employees. She rides a motorbike through Kabul each day to deliver tickets. “I feel happy to deliver bus tickets to the doorsteps of our clients,” she told Xinhua. Mohammadi hopes the company will continue to expand and provide more jobs, particularly for women. “It is very good to serve people, and I hope to see more job opportunities created and more people employed,” she said. She noted that riding a motorbike and working outside the home has given her a sense of encouragement.
The platform’s launch and expansion plans come at a time when Afghanistan’s transport infrastructure is still developing, and digital solutions are increasingly seen as a way to improve accessibility and efficiency for travelers.
