Former Ghana Football Association vice-president George Afriyie has stated that Ghana should not be involved in professional football if the national team, the Black Stars, fails to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Afriyie expressed his view that the team must be capable of finishing in the top two of their qualifying group, which includes Somalia and The Gambia. According to Afriyie, failing to secure a qualification spot against these opponents would indicate that the country has no standing in the sport.
