Police in Slovenia have confirmed that unidentified thieves stole artifacts from three cemeteries in the Šentjernej area – the Šentjernej cemetery, Gorenje Gradišče, and the cemetery on Otok island. The theft reportedly affected approximately 150 graves.

Unofficial sources suggest that the theft may have taken place during the night of Thursday to Friday, though it is not ruled out that the thieves could have also targeted the sites the previous night.
In a recent development, police recovered stolen items at a scrap metal buyer in Brežice. The buyer seized the artifacts and provided information that led to the identification of two individuals who had transported the stolen goods to the buyer.
Police continue to gather evidence and await further damage reports from the affected gravesites.
