A 12-year-old girl has died from critical wounds in Thailand, bringing the death toll from a school shooting to nine people. The girl was injured on Friday when a 14-year-old pupil opened fire at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province, northwest of Bangkok.
According to officials, the 14-year-old attacker opened fire at the school at around 10am on Friday before apparently taking his own life. Prior to the school shooting, he had also killed his two grandparents at his family home earlier in the morning.
In addition to the grandparents and the attacker himself, five school staff members were killed in the attack. The 12-year-old girl, who was hospitalized after the shooting, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, according to the Thai Health Ministry.
The school had appealed for blood donations for two pupils, including the girl, on Friday via a Facebook post. As of Saturday, 14 people remain hospitalized, with seven in critical condition, the Health Ministry reported.
