The long-awaited Jashore–Benapole double-track railway project has reached a significant milestone as its feasibility study enters the final stage. Initiated in 2024 under the Connectivity Improvement Preparatory Facility (CIPF), the project aims to improve connectivity with Bangladesh’s largest land port, Benapole.
Once completed, the double-track line will facilitate faster movement of goods and passengers, strengthening trade ties between Bangladesh and India. The project is expected to reduce congestion and transit times, benefiting businesses and commuters alike.
Authorities are optimistic that the final feasibility report will pave the way for construction to begin soon. The development underscores Bangladesh’s commitment to upgrading its rail infrastructure to support growing regional trade.
